Faye's take
Finisterre's surf and outdoor kit uses a lot of recycled polyester for the technical pieces — which has the same microplastic problem as virgin poly even if the carbon story is better. Their wool jumpers, organic cotton tees and natural-fibre layers do qualify though. Tier 2 with item-by-item flagging.
How they started
Finisterre was founded in 2003 by Tom Kay, who started the brand in a flat above a surf shop in Cornwall. He built an innovative fleece for hardy British surfers, wanting to create better-made, longer-lasting outdoor products and push innovation in an industry he felt lacked it.

Finisterre has been a B Corp since 2018, the first outdoor apparel brand in Europe to be certified. It has recertified with a score of 116.3, a 25% increase, and has published an annual Impact Report since 2020.
