Faye's take
Kuyichi are one of the cleanest denim houses out there — they've held GOTS certification for a long time and it's applied at the brand-scope level, so the licence covers every Kuyichi-branded garment rather than a handful of hero SKUs. Their 100% organic cotton pieces (mostly non-stretch jeans and knits) sit in Tier 1; the everyday stretch jeans use a small amount of elastane or recycled polyester to hold shape, which keeps them in Tier 2 under the GOTS blended-fibre route rather than pretending they're pure cotton. Nothing hidden, composition printed on every PDP.
How they started
Kuyichi traces its origins to 1998, when Dutch development organisation Solidaridad investigated cotton farming in central Peru and uncovered the hidden realities behind conventional cotton production. This led to the creation of Kuyichi, a denim brand built to show the industry that jeans could be made differently.
